Intellex Case Study | AI-Powered Platform

Project Overview
Intellex is a career mentoring platform that helps professionals navigate career transitions through personalized coaching and expert mentorship. The founders partnered with Ontik Technology to turn their idea into a scalable product, extending their team with Ontik’s development expertise. Ontik designed and built a web platform with dedicated portals for mentors and mentees, enabling easy session scheduling, secure payment processing, and feedback collection. This solution addresses the challenge of managing 5–7 career changes that individuals typically experience by providing continuous guidance and a supportive online mentorship community.
Key Metrics
- Rapid development achieved by functioning as an extension of the client’s team, accelerating time-to-market.
- Scalable AWS infrastructure in place, capable of supporting growth and numerous simultaneous mentorship sessions.

Project Scope
- Mentorship Portals: Developed dedicated mentor and mentee portals for profile management, session scheduling, and mentor-mentee communication.
- Scheduling & Payments: Implemented an easy-to-use scheduling system (integrated with cal.com) and payment processing (via Stripe) for booking mentorship sessions.
- Admin Dashboard: Built an admin panel for platform oversight, including user management, session monitoring, and content moderation.
- Scalable Architecture: Designed a cloud-hosted, Redis-cached architecture to ensure reliable performance as the user base grows.
- Automated Testing: Integrated end-to-end automated tests (Playwright) to ensure platform stability and a high-quality user experience.
Project Workflow for Seamless Delivery
Product Design & Planning
Conducted requirements workshops with Intellex’s founders to define user roles and platform features. Created initial wireframes and a system architecture plan aligning with the mentorship workflow.
UI/UX Design
Developed an intuitive UX for both mentors and mentees. Ontik’s designers produced high-fidelity prototypes in Figma, focusing on easy scheduling, profile browsing, and feedback submission to ensure an engaging user interface.
Portal Development
Built the front-end using Next.js and the back-end using Node.js/Express. Core features implemented included profile creation, mentor search, session booking calendar, payment gateway integration, and real-time notifications for session updates.
Integration & Testing
Integrated third-party services (Stripe for payments, cal.com for scheduling) and ensured data flows securely between components. Conducted thorough testing and QA – from automated test scripts to user acceptance testing – to validate that scheduling, payments, and mentorship sessions worked seamlessly end-to-end.
Deployment & Feedback Iteration
Deployed the application on AWS, leveraging CI/CD pipelines for smooth releases. After launch, gathered user feedback and mentoring session data to iterate on features (e.g. refining the feedback system). The extended team model allowed quick turnaround on improvements post-launch.
